Network Tariffs: Lower Austria and Burgenland Demand Improvements

Lower Austria and Burgenland are voicing clear criticism of the draft of the E-Control's Systemnutzungsentgelte-Grundsatzverordnung (System Usage Charges Framework Ordinance). From the perspective of the two federal states, the draft falls short because it does not sufficiently take into account the necessary expansion of battery storage. For members of energy communities, network tariffs are a key cost factor – they make up a significant part of the electricity bill and directly influence how economical locally generated and shared electricity is. Should the ordinance indeed be revised, this could also improve, in the long term, the framework conditions for storage projects within citizen energy communities. We are monitoring the further course of the debate and will keep you updated on developments relevant to DEA practice.
