Network Tariffs: New Framework Ordinance Aims to Curb Costs

E-Control has issued a framework ordinance on system usage tariffs, which is set to take effect from spring 2027. The goal is a fairer distribution of network costs – for many households and businesses, this could mean noticeable savings on their electricity bills. However, criticism has come from the industry: PV Austria is calling for fair grid connection costs specifically for small-scale installations, as well as clear, non-discriminatory rules for storage and flexible grid use. The final version of the ordinance is to be finalized in autumn, with industry representatives being involved in the process. This is relevant for members of citizen energy communities, as network tariffs make up a significant part of shared electricity costs. We are monitoring the further process and will provide information as soon as the final regulation is in place.
